!!! SPOILERS BELOW !!!

Deadpool is not in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
  1. WADE WILSON is in the movie.
  2. DEADPOOL is not.
My viewpoint is not a universal one, as many people will argue with me, but as a Deadpool fan from the early days I can safely say that the portrayal of a certain character (some would argue is Deadpool) has been tweaked to an unrecognizable state.

In the movie, the Weapon XI character is ONLY referred to as "Weapon XI". He is never referred to as "Deadpool". Weapon XI has powers and abilities that neither Wade Wilson nor Deadpool have EVER possessed.

In the movie, William Styker says that he wants Wolverine's powers to add to his "Dead Pool". He then tells his technician to "activate Weapon XI". This is very important. The place "the Dead Pool" and the person "Deadpool" ARE NOT the same thing!

The person took his name from the place. Wade Wilson joined the Weapon X program, "failed out", was sent to a containment facility (the Dead Pool) and later took the name "Deadpool" after escaping from Dr. Killebrew and severing all connections with the Weapon X program.

Weapon XI was William Stryker's attempt to make an all-powerful "anti-mutant". He combined many mutants' powers and abilities into Weapon XI. Wade Wilson was used to help create Stryker's "anti-mutant", as the entire team was, but he is not Weapon XI. There are a few things that lead many to believe that Weapon XI IS Deadpool.
  1. Upon his return to Weapon X, Wolverine is told that the team "lost" Wade Wilson. (i.e. he is not dead)
  2. Wade Wilson is not seen after Wolverine's return to Weapon X.
  3. Styker says: "Wilson, if it weren't for that mouth you'd be the perfect soldier."
  4. Weapon XI's mouth is seemingly sewn shut and Wolverine quips "they finally found a way to shut you up".
That last point tells us that Wolverine is under the impression that Weapon XI is Deadpool. Well, Wolverine is wrong. Throughout the movie, Wolverine is under a great many misconceptions.
  1. Silverfox is deceased.
  2. William Styker and Sabertooth are enemies.
  3. Boxing Fred Dukes is a good idea.
  4. Gambit doesn't mind dog-tags.
  5. Weapon XI is Deadpool.
As we later find out, Wolverine is WRONG about a great many things. Now I know this movie is NOT CANON and the filmmakers have taken liberties with many characters' back stories. It is possible that, within the confines of this movie, the filmmakers have turned "Wade Wilson/Deadpool" INTO Weapon XI. While this is entirely possible, I (personally) refuse to believe the characters are one and the same.

IMDB even lists two different characters (Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Weapon XI) played by two different actors. If the filmmakers wanted to make the connection between characters, wouldn't they have used the same actor? Maybe Ryan Reynolds wasn't available for re-shoots? Maybe the second actor commanded a smaller salary and since the character was covered in make-up the filmmakers thought no one would notice?

I don't have all the answers, but I believe I have provided a successful argument in debating the fact that the monstrosity at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine IS NOT Deadpool.

"All I ever wanted was to travel to far off exotic places, meet new exciting people and then kill them. So I become a mercenary. My name is Wade Wilson. And I love what I do."
