"The Conspiracy Section"

by Ted S.
YDR.v1.i1

In this section, conspiracies around the globe will be presented so all Doggs can look out for them and not be fooled.  Our first topic, The Truman Show.  I haven't seen this movie but contrary to popular opinion, through deductive reasoning, and knowledge of the inner workings of our government and common sense, I am certain that this film is no better than Killer Clowns from Outer Space or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.  Look at it this way, if you will, Jim Carrey makes millions of dollars at the box office and for Hollywood, but here's the key part, he does this through being a funny/comedic actor. Now there is not a thing wrong with that but just follow me on this.

Hollywood is confusing.  In a way it is both stupid and smart. Stupid in the fact they keep making terribly scripted films that run off of special effects (Jurassic Park or the more recent Godzilla, Deep Impact, and Armageddon wait, weren't those last two the same movie?).  Smart in the fact that they know American movie goers get sick of that type of film fairly quickly.  So we come to the conspiracy.

Some average Joe Schmos were talking at the water cooler one day about movies. One said to the other "They (the big-wigs in Hollywood) should really shock an audience by putting a comedian in a serious role and hype it up to be a really great movie."  Now, when this was said, one of them (the big-wigs) walked by and overheard this conversation, stole the idea and fought to get it off the ground for around two years because the bigger-wigs didn't think it would make any money.

It all comes down to this: Hollywood figured they would put a big comedian in a serious role and create a movie that was mediocre. They figure they will make money off of it any one of 4 ways 1) from the big name comedian 2) the lack of special effects moviegoers get sick of 3) to talk up the film and through use of media make the movie seem better than it actually is through hype in newspapers and 4) being the first to state that this movie has great Oscar possibilities.  So now you know that The Truman Show isn't as good as all the hype says, wait till it comes out on video or just go see Almost Heroes.
