"Open in 2005, Worth visiting in 2006!"

The recently opened "Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills" mall is open, but not really worth visiting.

If you're looking to replace the drive from New Kensington to Monroeville, look elsewhere. Although the "new mall" IS open, it really doesn't have that much that's useful. Of course you have JCPenney, Kaufmann's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and a handful of others, but they were already in the area. JCPenney has been in Lower Burrell for years, Kaufmann's is the Heights, Dick's is also in the Heights plaza. So basically, it's nothing new.

Oh, and I should probably mention that the Pittsburgh Mills mall has yet another movie theater, yet another bookstore, yet another bowling alley and yet another miniature golf course.

The Pittsburgh Mills is reported to contain stores like BestBuy, WalMart, H & M, d.e.m.o., Hot Topic, and a NASCAR SpeedPark (whatever that is). BUT THEY'RE NOT OPEN YET. (While I couldn't care less about the NASCAR thing, the rednecks around here will love that...)

But alas, even the stuff I don't care about isn't open...

So I figured the food court looked big, that's probably good right? Not really. The seating area IS big, but only 1/3 of the "food court" has actual food. One third of the "food court" area is part of the movie theater. ONE THIRD IS A BANK. ??? And the remaining third is Asian "fried meat shape and rice" meals.

Sooo, if you're a female, you may find shopping in a different JCPenney or Kaufmann's ideal, but for any males out there, it's just a whole lot of walking for pretty much NOTHING.

I go to the Monroeville Mall all the time. It's nice. I have nothing against indoor malls. I even consider myself somewhat of a mallrat. However, the Monroeville Mall is WAY better than this ...thing.

Here's my biased opinion on some of the malls in the area:

Monroeville Mall = 10 / 10 10/10
Ross Park Mall = 7 / 10 7/10
Century III Mall = 4 / 10 4/10
Pittsburgh Mills Mall = 4 / 10 4/10

I have gone there since and it is getting more useful.

Monroeville Mall = 10 / 10 10/10
Ross Park Mall = 7 / 10 7/10
Century III Mall = 4 / 10 4/10
Pittsburgh Mills Mall = 6 / 10 6/10

2006.01.19

I have gone recently and find it somewhat useful.

Monroeville Mall = 10 / 10 10/10
Ross Park Mall = 7 / 10 7/10
Century III Mall = 4 / 10 4/10
Pittsburgh Mills Mall = 7.5 / 10 7/10

2008.03.08

I've gone there hundreds of times over the past few years (if not a thousand). The mall has really filled out. Some stores that were opened originally have moved out and new businesses have moved in. The bowling alley isn't there anymore. It's been replaced by a restaurant. The NASCAR place never opened and it doesn't appear that it ever will. The mall still isn't the be-all-and-end-all for local shopping, but it's much, much better than it was.

Monroeville Mall = 10 / 10 10/10
Ross Park Mall = 7 / 10 7/10
Century III Mall = 4 / 10 4/10
Pittsburgh Mills Mall = 9 / 10 9/10
