Passion is a crucial element in the mythology of Force, as it could lead people astray into the Dark Side, organized under Sith. To better understand the Sith, one should know the Sith Code by which the Dark Side abides by, which states:

"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power I gain victory.
Through victory my chains are broken.
The Force shall set me free."

Jedi are not allowed to form eternal bonds, as it could cloud the judgment of a Jedi. To further explain this notion there is a Jedi Code , which is not mentioned directly in the film but it states:

"There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no death; there is the Force."
